This week, we thought we’d share a quick experience with you to help illustrate why we do the things we do. The other day, we had a customer come in for a basic oil change and ended up with a big surprise on all our hands. You see, every time a car comes into our facility we do a free 21-point inspection and on this occasion we found problems bigger than the oil and filter needing to be changed. This particular vehicle had a serious problem in the steering column that would very soon have not only made the car unsafe to drive, but would render the vehicle inoperable and cost a fortune to repair. The good news? We caught it before it was too late – and before the owner’s warranty ran out!
Yes, you read that right. The owner had an extended warranty that covered the repair 100%! So, you may think the 21-point inspection sounds frivolous, but what if it saved your pocket book hundreds of dollars, besides keeping your car healthy and you safe? That makes it sound pretty fantastic, we think. If you’re like us, you know that most things on your car will wait until just after your warranty expires to break. Your mechanic can be like your crystal ball – he can give you a look into the future and tell you what things are wearing out, what things will need to be replaced, and hopefully you can get it done before your warranty says it’s too late!
So, wherever you go for your auto repair or preventative maintenance, ask for your free inspection if they don’t automatically do it. This inspection should include checking fluid levels, tire wear, belts, hoses, horn, headlights, suspension, battery life, and many other facets of your car that not only keep you on the road, but also keep you safe.
Until next time, drive safe!
